Lancastria Memorial Service 2025

We were honoured to once again sing at the Lancastria Memorial service. This year's service marked the 85th anniversary of the tragedy, and took place at St Katharine Cree Church, Leadenhall Street, London, on Thursday 12th June 2025.

Among other music, we performed the a capella version of Jacques Cohen's new work, Lancastria, which is a setting of the Tennyson poem, Crossing the Bar. It was written to commemmorate the 85th anniversary of the sinking of the Lancastria by enemy action, with the loss of between 4,000 and 7,000 lives. The version of the work which includes orchestra and bagpipe was premiered at our Spring Concert on 27th March 2025.
